On my sister's recommendation, I watched the first episode of Yuri on Ice (despite the misleading title, it's actually a yaoi anime.)
It got me thinking about why there's no bara equivalent. Well, I decided to remedy that.
I couldn't resist doing a parody of yaoi conventions. The sparkles, the swooping romance and so on. All the things that make the genre so much fun.
Except in this case, the characters are big, burly men instead of pretty bishies.
But who says Skoll shouldn't enjoy sparkles just because he has chest hair and a bit of a belly?
Notes: It's also a bit of a send-up of posters for romance films and those inspirational Oscar-bait films (for some reason, the latter's posters always feature someone with their arms outstretched.)
Chasing Ice came about when I created a parody poster of Yuri On Ice. People liked the idea and I was overwhelmed by emails and messages asking me to develop it into a mini-series.
So here it is. This is also a prequel to my other comic, Smoke, Fur And Stone (from which I'm currently taking a brief break.)
